Honduras
Honduras faces some of the worst effects from the War on Drugs. Gang violence has become the norm in Honduras and has corrupted government officials, as well as police. The Sinaloa cartel, or the cartel which has been run by "El Chapo" up until this year, has established a trans- port route for moving large amounts of cocaine by airplane and 'go-fast' boats from Colombia to Honduras, before sending it farther north. Honduras is also apart of the infamous "Northern Triangle" three states which also include El Salvador, and Guatemala. These three states are names together as they are often working together and against one another in the drug trade creating an even more volatile environment in Central America. The prison system can be described below, but is categorized by massive corruption.
